Moving Horses.

I finally moved the horses. I let Brandy out with Tango and Easter. I really excepted there to be a fight of some sort, some bucking, kicking, squealing, etc, but nope. Easter didn't care a bit, and tango was just excited that his girlfriend was now with him.

Sheik was pretty upset at first, but he settled down nicely. He listens a lot better and acts a lot happier to see me when he's not out in the pasture.

I went out and brushed him this afternoon to give him some company.

Then I turned him out tonight, and put Brandy and Tango into the corral. I started to put Easter in there too, but at the end I decided not too. They might all get along in the big pasture, but that's a lot smaller and she didn't look real happy with Brandy. So I left her out with Sheik.

There didn't seem to be ANY fireworks with them. When I went inside they were grazing a few feet away, and when I went out to check on them a little while ago they were standing next to each other grazing. they look completely happy and that's pretty cool. =]

xD

SoI worked with Sheik this morning. He was pretty good. He still being kind of crazy when it comes to trotting, but he was defintely setting up a lot better then he was the last time I worked with him. He also backed up pretty well.

He was also pretty friendly tonight when I went to feed him. He came over and let me pet him for a while. I really need to seperate him from Brandy though, they are so buddy sour and it's not fun. She's also teaching him some bad habits, which is driving me crazy.

Poneh face. =]

Worked with Sheik yesterday. He was really easy to catch, but he was in a pretty crabby mood otherwise. He didn't want to walk, or else he didn't want to trot which was pretty annoying. I need to bring the whip down again I guess. He's setting up okay...he was doing it better last week, so we need to work on that a little more too. I also brushed him really quickly.

Emergency?

Of course no one likes to think about it, a fire, a bad storm, etc, but it happens.

And today we started talking about we personally would do if we had, say a fire, and time to actually evacute.

With a two horse trailer and four horses, it would be tough.

But we decided that we would take Sheik, because he's the favorite and let's face it, the most vauluable. And Easter, because she could not outrun a fire or a storm, and the smoke inhalluation would be very bad for her. They also load very well, which would make it easier...

I would feel bad not taking Brandy, especially because she is not mine, but I think her owners would understand if said fire ever happens. Plus she would be with Tango, and of course we'd put our numbers on their halters, and possibly, as someone suggested, spray paint our number on their side, provided we have time.

If we did have quite a while, I would of course, come back and get Brandy, along with Tango, as long as he loaded.

If it's a tornado, of course, there is no time for that sort of thing, so provided that we have any amount of time, I'd turn all of them out, and they'd have to fend for themselves, which actually, they'd probably do very well.
Hopefully and probably this will never happen, but it's always good to have a plan, right?

Happy Birthday Sheik. =D

Today is Sheik's third birthday. =]
I've had him for almost two years. Hard to believe he isn't a baby anymore.
I think, since I got him as a yearling, we've acomplished a lot together.
Besides the halter/lead/trailer/tying/clipping/bathing/saddle training we've done, we've also taken him enough places that he stays pretty calm, and I've showed him three times too.
